As part of the Association's continuing commitment to the highest level of service to its members, a number of computers with access to the Internet are available for the use of all members.
The computers are located in the Front Office at Havelock House and their use is provided free of charge to all members. They are installed with Microsoft Office which includes Word, Excel, Access, and Publisher. In addition, access to the Internet is provided for the convenience of members.
The primary aim of the provision of these computers is to assist members in the production of personal correspondence and other information such as resumes, letters of employment, etc. In addition, the computers provide an opportunity for members to obtain training and experience in:
These Conditions of Use must be strictly adhered to. In the event of any breach of these Conditions the Association reserves the right to immediately terminate a member’s use of the facility and to maintain that restriction for as long as the Association chooses.
Legal prosecution may result from a breach of these Conditions of Use.
For the purpose of this policy the word ‘Material’ includes any data, information, text, graphics, animations, speech, videos, and music or other sounds, accessible electronically - including any combination or selection of any of these.
Internet Access
Proceeding to book and/or use the computers and access the Internet is evidence of the fact that members have read, understood and accept these Conditions of Use and agree to abide by the Association's terms. In other words once members book access to the Internet service they are bound by these Conditions of Use and the following indemnity; copies of both are to be made available with the computers.
Notice of Indemnity
Members acknowledge that in the event that any legal action is threatened or commenced the Association bears no responsibility whatsoever for the conduct or outcome of the legal action, arising out of or connected with your use of the Internet service.
Access and Bookings
The computers are available for use by members during the following times:

To ensure that all members have equitable access to the computers, a time limit of two hours per day has been set. Members may pre-book the computers at the Front Office on the booking sheets provided for up to two hours per day. Members are asked to check with the Front Office staff at the start of each session. In the event that the computers have not been booked, members may use the computers in excess of the time limit.
Printing and Copying
Printing facilities are available but members are required to provide their own A4 paper and if they wish to save their information, they are required to provide their own floppy disk.
Members must abide by the copyright laws when using material on the Internet. Specifically members should note section 40 of the Copyright Act, which refers to fair dealing.
Copyright
In using the Association’s technology or equipment the Association does not authorise members to infringe property rights of any Material. It is entirely the member’s obligation to ensure that they operate within the legal system. Members are only permitted to use this technology in accordance with:
Members should not assume that they can reproduce, print, transmit, or download all Material to which they have access. They have the right to use Material consistently with the technology or the rights of the owner of the Material. They may reproduce Material only where it is expressly stated that they may, or where it is a normal function of that technology (for example accessing Material on a bulletin board which can only be read if it is down loaded).
Prohibited and Unlawful Use
Internet access is not to be used for any activities of an illegal or fraudulent nature. Some activities are unlawful and therefore PROHIBITED. Unlawful activities include - but are not limited to:
Privacy
As access to this service is provided in a public place and through publicly available facilities members should be aware that no guarantee of privacy can be made, either while members are using the facility or after they have completed their session through access by others to history files etc.
