The Association currently sub-leases several areas of Havelock House to other community organisations as office space. The Association’s policy is to maximise the utilisation of space available at Havelock House by leasing out those areas that are not appropriate for group residential use.
The Association may only sub-lease with the consent of the ACT Government. The Deed of Lease with the ACT Government requires that Havelock House is used only for the provision of housing assistance (as defined by legislation), or for purposes which are ‘necessarily ancillary’ to the provision of housing assistance. This means that organisations that lease office space in Havelock House must have housing or housing-related assistance as part of their core business.
